Spatter Cone!



These are the remnants of spatter cones, early volcanic features that filled the Hat Creek area with lava thousands of years ago. We found a lava tube with two cute little bats sleeping in it but we didn't take pictures because we didn't want to wake them up.

    Weren't you rather nervous about stumbling upon rattlesnakes in those caves?!? :0

    I saw a photo taken at almost the identical spot to one I took overlooking an expanse of manzanita, clear to Lassen =)
